The program

Methodox™ Image Editor runs entirely on the computer it is installed on. It is a desktop program that opens files from your disk, changes them, and writes them back to your disk.

  • Your pictures are never uploaded. Every file you open, edit and save stays on your own machine. Nothing is copied to us or to anyone else.
  • There is no account. You do not sign in, there is no profile, and we hold no record that you are using the program.
  • The program does not phone home. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting to us, and no update check that reports back.
  • Its settings are yours. Preferences, presets, macros, palettes, the list of recently opened files and any autosaves are written into a folder on your own machine and go nowhere else. Deleting that folder deletes them.

Where you bought or downloaded the program — itch.io or Steam, when those pages are live — that shop has its own privacy policy, its own account and its own records of the purchase. That is between you and them; we do not receive your pictures or your activity in the program from either of them.

This website

This site is a handful of static pages. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no comment box, no newsletter and no form of any kind, so there is nothing here for you to type your details into and nothing that we could collect from you directly.

Google Analytics

The site loads Google Analytics (measurement ID G-3LMGDZWYD5) on every page, including this one. That is the only third-party service on the site, and it is there so that we can see how many people visit and which pages they read.

Through it, Google collects and processes, for each visit:

  • the pages you look at on this site, and when;
  • an approximate location, worked out by Google from your IP address;
  • your device type, screen size, operating system, browser and language;
  • how you arrived — a search engine, another site's link, or typing the address;
  • an identifier stored in your browser so that a return visit can be recognised as a return visit.

That information goes to Google and is handled under Google's privacy policy; Google describes how it uses data from sites that embed its services in a separate note. We see only the aggregate reports it produces. We do not try to work out who any individual visitor is, and we do not combine this with anything else.

Turning it off

You can block it. Most content blockers stop Google Analytics without any special configuration, browsers that block third-party tracking stop it, and Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on of its own. The site works exactly the same with the script blocked — nothing on any page depends on it.

Hosting

The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub's receives your IP address and request in the ordinary course of sending you the page, and handles it under GitHub's privacy statement. We do not have access to those logs.

What the site does not do

  • No third-party fonts. The two typefaces are downloaded from this site, not from Google Fonts, so no request goes to fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com when you read a page.
  • No advertising, and no advertising network.
  • No social widgets, no embedded video, no live chat.
  • No cookies of our own. The only thing this site stores in your browser by itself is your choice of light or dark theme, kept in your browser's local storage under the key methodox-image-editor-theme. It never leaves your browser and we never see it. Clearing your browser data removes it. Google Analytics stores its own identifier separately, as described above.

Children

Neither the program nor this site is directed at children, and neither asks anybody for personal information.

Changes

If what the program or the site collects ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. The page's history is public in the repository this site is published from.
